L. G. Smith Boulevard is the main street of downtown Oranjestad, and connects the city with San Nicolas. It was named after Lloyd Gaston Smith, general manager of the Lago oil refinery in San Nicolas from 1933 to 1946. At the time, Lago was owned by Standard Oil Co. Of New Jersey, later Exxon Corp.
