If you ever find yourself in Hpa An, one of must-sees in Bat Cave, the home of 100,000 plus bats.
Just 9 km away from the city, near Thanlyin river, Bat Cave is a small cave that cannot be entered. Nevertheless, take a tuk-tuk to the small pagoda at sunset and wait for the spectacle to begin. As the bats start to emerge, birds of prey arrive making zigzag maneuvers as they swooped to snatch their evening meal and locals start beating drums so that the bats make interesting patterns in flight and not only for five minutes but at least 40 minutes.
