Deal is the nearest town to St. Margarets. Mentioned in the Doomsday book in the 13th century, a fishing village now a small coastal town seeped in history. The place where Julius Ceaser landed, the Queen Mother spent much time here in Deal castle. Charles Dickens lived here for a while. And more recently the IRA bombed the Royal barracks in 1989 killing 11 soldiers.
It retains it's charm. The Deal Beach Parlour has been there as long as I can remember, the facade has never changed. Always full of eldery people sipping tea inside no matter what the weather, and selling it's locally famous 99 ice- creams in the summer.
