The Asian or Asiatic Elephant (Elephas maximus), . It is the largest living land animal in Asia. They are found primarily in India, Sri Lanka, Burma and parts of Nepal and Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, China, Bhutan, and Sumatra.
The Asian Elephant is quite smaller that the African Elephant,and used for domestic chores and ceremonial purposses.
The Asian Elephants has smaller ears the trunk has one "Finger" and the top of the head has 2 bumps while the African Elephant is smooth.
I took this photo while taking safari ride on the island of Koh Phangan., you can clearly see the 2 bumps on the head.
