Not just one but many idols accompanied by flaming lanterns and women singing are carried out of the main temple, and make their way through the temples grounds and further onto the streets as they made their way back to their own temples.

What a colourful, joyous spectacle this was on our last evening in Kanchipuram, an evening never to forget.
