As I said it was the Shakrain Festival, (the kite festival) which is celebrated in old Dhaka, on January 15 . We were invited onto the roof of an apartment. From there we had a view over the skyline of old Dhaka.
As part of the celebration, kites are flown high from the sometimes precarious rooftops. It often takes the form of kite fighting, in which participants try to snag each other's kites or cut other kites down.
