The highlight of our latest trip has to be the dawn flight over Bagan in a hot-air balloon.
Two British companies operate the flights. Balloons over Bagan and Oriental Ballooning. We choose the latter and as TIP it was the best choice as they have smaller baskets. 8 persons to a basket, everyone has a corner and everyone has a 360 degree view as opposed to BoB which carry 16 persons. Here you see BoB Oriental Ballooning has green balloons. It is expensive, very expensive for Burma it feels very decadent thinking what the cost of the flight could mean for a typical Burmese family and it is the reason I have never flown on previous visits.
But I must admit it was an experience I will never forget. The calmness, the light, not to mention the view as we floated over the pagodas and plains of Bagan.
