The Grand Mosque

Ningxia en Gansu,
China

Ningxia, broke off from Gansu in 1958 and was reconstituted as an autonomous region for the Hui people, one of the 56 officially recognised nationalities of China.
The Hui people are a predominantly Muslim ethnic group in China.
I was invited to a seminar in this remote area and although had to spend four days at the seminar , I did mange to get out twice, once to the old town and once to Inner Mongolia.
Here you see the Grand Mosque in the old town of Yinchuan.
