With the absence of fridges, people buy vegetables every day fresh. mostly in the morning markets, but sometimes the local farmer travels from street to street selling whatever is in season or whenever he has a glut/surplus.
As a small moestuin holder I can appreciate this, I am giving everyone at the moment courgettes and beans. We were invited to friends at the weekend, I arrived with a basket of vegetables rather then flowers.
