The lost mattress

Corsica,
Frankrijk

For those who want to know how we lost the mattresses in the storm............late on Friday a storm brew up across the island with winds reaching 90 kms per hour. All night the wind, blew and blew. As you can see our tent stood on its own, isolated on the camping just as we like it (normally) but that night the wind rushed down from the mountains continuously like a train passing by all night. We didn't sleep a wink. The next day the wind although still blowing had subsided a little but more wind and rain was predicted. We decided to move our tent to a more secluded part of the camping.
We emptied the tent and laid the two lucht mattresses on top of each other weighing them down with a coolbox and a six pack of 1.5 liter water on top while we continued to pack. After a while I asked my man, 'where are the mattresses?' it was only then we looked and realized a gust of wind had taken them far over the fields over hedges and into a tree. We ran and retrieved them but to no avail. That night we slept on leaking mattresses that by 1am were completely flat. Sleeping on the hard ground at our age isn't my idea of a holiday, but a story to tell
