Vanmorgen stond ik op in een koude, mistige polder. Toen ik begin februari 2006 in Brugge was, trof ik hetzelfde weer aan. Vanaf een pleintje met het beeld van Jan van Eijk zie je de volgende brug in nevel gehuld. We zijn dan ook regelmatig een cafe ingedoken voor warme chocomel. We hadden gewild dat we een warmer oord hadden gekozen. Dit verlangen zie je ook terug in de eerste tekstregels van het nummer California Dreamin van The Mamas and Papas:
