This couple from Gujarat look as out of place here in Tamil Nadu as we do. Although Thanjavur is very much on the map as a place of interest I was pleasantly surprised as to how quiet (foreign tourists) is was. We saw a couple of groups arrive and leave within less than an hour. Two days we savoured the hypnotic atmosphere of the Brihadeeswara Temple. You may say that seems over the top, but when you think that the temple is the center of daily life, not only for worship, but a meeting place, gathering news, gossiping. Its a place to see and meet people as well as admire the beauty of the temple by sunrise and by sunset.
